Франсис Форд Копола (роден на 7 април 1939 г. в Детройт) е един от най-влиятелните американски режисьори, сценаристи и продуценти, ключова фигура в движението „Новият Холивуд“. Ранни години и образование: Израства в италиано-американско семейство в Ню Йорк. Баща му, Кармине Копола, е известен флейтист и композитор. Като дете боледува от полиомиелит, което го приковава към леглото за дълго време – период, в който развива въображението си чрез куклен театър и домашни филми. Завършва драматично изкуство в университета Хофстра и кинорежисура в UCLA.
